These Seasons of Our Lives

there's a nip in the air
the leaves will be falling
but it's Pacers bball
where my mind is turning

Rik Smits ducked into the elevator
with my wife, which frightened her
because he's big but she hung in
she hadn't recognized him then
she was headed to the 4th floor
basement(the dungeon because of
how dark it was)of the Capitol building
and as they got off in the darkness
he asked if he could escort her to her car
she said "oh I recognize you you're Rik Smits"
"my boys watch you play whenever a game is on"
he smiled and said "that's encouraging"
they talked about him being there for a Disney
charity and her for Blind Services. he
carried her books and loaded them into
her hatchback.then he wrote her a note to give
to the ticket booth to see a game

and i remember this human interaction
when the season is coming
because even though we see them as stars
they are in the seasons of their lives too
