The Pacers and Tyrese Haliburton have formalized their partnership for (potentially) another five years. While we're still waiting on the final contract details, the stroke-of-midnight announcement that Haliburton's new deal could be worth up to $260 million dollars, the maximum allowable, reinforce what everyone already knows: the team loves Tyrese.

After a year in which he averaged 20 and 10 on great efficiency, led the league in assist percentage, and made his fist All-Star game, it's not surprising that he's getting a maximum contract. But his on-court excellence almost belies his importance to the franchise. The Pacers are enamored with the human as much as the basketball player. Whenever asked about Tyrese, you'll hear them rave about his positive energy and his ability to uplift every single person he meets. They also trust his opinion enough to consult him on personnel moves.

I'll update this article when we know more, but deal could be for less money that the $260 million being reported. If Tyrese does not make All-NBA, win MVP, or win DPOY next year, the number will be closer to $207 million. We'll also want to keep an eye on whether or not he has option years and how his bonuses are structured (if he has any).

Regardless, the Pacers backed the Brink's truck up for their star player and I couldn't be happier. Well deserved, Ty.
