Earlier this week the Pacers inked veteran big man James Johnson to a new contract. Johnson has been a valuable mentor for the young team over the past few years and bringing him back is a savvy move.

This season the team will have a target on its back from Game 1. They made a lot of "enemies," both in the media and on opposing teams, after making their way to the NBA Cup Final and the Eastern Conference Semifinals. Staying focused and playing through scrutiny will be the next step in evolving into a bonafide contender, so having a rock like Johnson on board will surely pay dividends.
Two-Way Spots
The Pacers officially signed Quenton Jackson and Tristen Newton to Two-Way deals today.

According to Tony East, both deals are one-year commitments. The signings leave one open Two-Way spot. Whether it goes to Oscar Tshiebwe or Enrique Freeman will be interesting to watch. I imagine the team will leave it open through training camp and let the players duke it out.
