Indiana Pacers F Jarace Walker -- the eighth pick in the 2023 NBA Draft -- underwent a minor procedure to remove loose bodies in his right elbow, sources tell ESPN. Walker is expected to be fully recovered for the start of training camp in September.

Gulp. Well, that's not a friendly Woj bomb. Good news, it sounds like a fairly minor procedure and he'll be ready by the start of the season. Bad news, he'll likely be getting back into game shape early in the year. We'll see how that affects his place in the rotation when the season kicks off (more on that to come).
The procedure seems to be in relation to an injury he picked up during the NCAA Tournament, which forced him to sit out of his agency pro-day during the pre-draft process.
U of Houston F Jarace Walker - No. 5 in ESPN’s Mock Draft - will sit out WME’s Pro Day in Santa Barbara today w/ a sore right elbow, his agents tell ESPN. He hurt his elbow in Sweet 16 game and recently re-aggravated it. He’s expected to be 100 percent again for upcoming team…

According to a Twitter Sports Doctor who I can't vouch for, the recovery time is usually 6-8 weeks. It would be nice if Jarace could spend that time working on his jumper with Coach Boucek, but if it helps him in the long run, I suppose it's best to get the procedure out of the way now.
Long term this will be the best for his elbow especially if he was having pain.

Recovery is typically 6-8 weeks and shouldn’t have impact on start of season
The Pacers have had rotten luck with injuries over the past decade. I keep telling myself that things are bound to turn around but the gods keep laughing at me. I'm choosing to treat this as nothing to worry about... until Carlisle says "weeks not months," that is.
