We're 16-58 with the worst record in the NBA, losers of 18 of our last 19 games and riding an 11-game home losing streak. Miami (39-35) is fighting for a play-in spot despite dropping six of their last seven. You'd think Miami would want it more but, honestly, this is a winnable game.
The Pacers have been playing decent, if unsuccessful, basketball of late. If it were earlier in the season, I'd even suggest that they were rounding into form. Pascal Siakam (23.7 PPG) continues to play like a professional, Andrew Nembhard (17.0 PPG, 7.6 APG) is running the offense efficiently, Nesmith is still one of the best 3-and-D guys in the league, and Jarace Walker has shown real development. Against a Miami team that's struggled defensively and plays at the league's fastest tempo, we could give them trouble.
Injuries
Unfortunately, two of the four guys I just mentioned will not suit up tonight.
Oops, Carlsile was not asked about Toppin specifically here. Thought he was referencing all the questionable guys.
