We start the new season where the last season left off, lined up against the Oklahoma City Thunder. It's a bittersweet beginning to the new year. On one hand it's a reminder of just how close we were to the ultimate goal and how devastating Tyrese Haliburton's achilles injury was to this team. He will be out for an entire year, meanwhile, the Thunder will be wearing brand new jewelry when they arrive at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
At the same time, tonight is a moment to put the past where it belongs and move forward. Despite missing our best player, there is plenty to be excited about this season. The rotation will loosen, the play style will shift, and we'll get better looks at everyone on the roster not named Pascal Siakam.
The Pacers are, inevitably, underdogs. For better or worse, that is this team's sweet spot. The bulletin board material will write itself. Now the gang needs to step up and prove that they can play elite basketball with or without their superstar.
Time will tell whether or not they grow into their new roles but today, at the outset of a new season, there's no reason for anything but optimism.
Nancy Leonard Tribute
The Pacers will honor the passing of their First Lady with a moment of celebration rather than silence. A fitting tribute to a woman who was fundamental in keeping the franchise in Indianapolis.
Rick Carlisle says there won't be a moment of silence and instead just a moment of celebration tonight. "I encourage everyone to give as loud a standing ovation as they can to this woman who meant so much to so many," he says. https://t.co/LyoS7wic09

Betting Scandal
Rick Carlisle addressed the scandal that is sending shockwaves through the league. As the head of the Coaches Association, he reached out the Chauncey Billups but has not heard back.

Injury Report
No surprises on our end. Only T.J. McConnell will be missing from the regular rotation. The Thunder, however, will be without quite a few key players, including Jalen Williams, Alex Caruso, Cason Wallace, and Isaiah Joe.
