The Pacers are slowly beginning to look like the team we thought we'd see this year. The big news tonight is that Benn Mathurin is returning to the lineup, which should be a boon for our struggling offense.

Mathurin was on fire to start the season. He scored 36 in the opener against OKC and was on track for another 30 point game before his night was cut short with an injury in the second outing, where he finished with 26 despite only playing 28 minutes.

I wouldn't expect him to be in quite the same form against the Pistons, naturally. It sounds like he'll be on a minutes restriction as they ease him back into game shape.

It will be a tall task for the Blue & Gold to walk out of Detroit with a win. The Pistons are playing excellent basketball in this early stretch of the season. They currently sit at 11-2 and their rebuilding years are finally bearing fruit.

One of the many reasons that an injury plagued season is the worst is that it robs us of the excitement of rivalry games. Normally, this would be a heavyweight battle for bragging rights in the Central Division. There's no love lost between the Pacers and Pistons (historically or currently) and we'd be almost guaranteed to see a fun game. But with the way the season has gone, I'd be happy if the team just showed a pulse.

Still, if anyone can bring a bit of spirit back into the locker room, it's Bennedict Mathurin. Let's hope his return amps the team up for a battle in Detroit.
