Tank Bowl Thursday
Welcome to the bottom of the Eastern Conference, where the Pacers (15-40) and Wizards (14-39) meet for the first of two straight games in what can only be described as a race to the bottom.
The NBA just fined us $100,000 for sitting Pascal Siakam against the Jazz earlier this month. Our response? Siakam's out again tonight for "personal reasons" (aka All-Star weekend hangover?). Ivica Zubac is out with an ankle injury. T.J. McConnell and Aaron Nesmith are questionable.
The Wizards? They're matching our energy. Anthony Davis is out with a hand/groin injury. Trae Young is out. Alex Sarr is out. D'Angelo Russell might not show up for the rest of the season.
Here's the beauty of the tankbowl: we're somehow 3.5-point favorites despite missing half our rotation. That's how bad Washington has been, losing their last three games by 14, 31, and 25 points respectively. They're giving up 123.1 points per game—second-worst in the NBA.
But we're hardly in position to capitalize, ranking third-worst in scoring at 111.1 PPG with all our absences.
What to Watch
Andrew Nembhard is one of our few healthy rotation players, and he's been dealing—at least eight assists in 13 of his last 16 games. Both teams rank in the top eight in pace over the last 10 games, so expect a track meet even with G-League rosters on the floor.
Injuries
McConnell is out, Nesmith and Potter are in.
